Religious Exemptions from Vaccines

The issue of religious exemptions from mandated vaccines for school age children is another unresolved issue leftover from the 2019 legislative session. A current article from the CTNewsjunkie highlights the issues involved.  This issue is expected to be addressed again during the 2020 legislative session.

The Conference's position on this issue was expressed during the 2019 legislative session in its testimony given on H.B. 7005. Although the Conference is a strong defender of religious liberty, the Catholic Church does encourage the use of vaccines as a way to protect the society. In its testimony the Conference stated, "... that we live in community with each other and must balance our rights with the legitimate responsibility to promote the common good."
